‘Make a Change’ by Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts

Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts in collaboration with the national carrier SriLankan Airlines will spread a powerful message on World Tourism Day, by launching a song titled ‘Make a Change,’ that calls for people across the world to protect the planet. The song, which is written by legendary Sri Lankan musician Alston Koch, and produced by Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, asks people from all walks of life, to come together and take responsibility for protecting the planet. Cinnamon Grand, Lakeside feel the heat from new entrants as competition heightens

Asian Hotels & Properties PLC (AHPL), the owners and operators of the two city hotels under the Cinnamon brand, appears to have started to feel the intensity of the competition in the city hotel sector in Colombo, as the group’s top and bottom lines fared poorly in the most recent quarter. AHPL, a John Keells Group company, reported Rs. 2.2 billion revenue for the quarter ended March (4Q18), down 6.0 percent year-on-year (YoY). The operating profit declined by 36 percent YoY to Rs. 454.8 million for the period while the earnings fell 17 percent YoY to Rs.689.1 million. The per share earnings was Rs.1.56 compared to Rs.1.87 a year ago. AHPL owns and operates the 501-room Cinnamon Grand, Colombo and the 346-room Cinnamon Lakeside, Colombo. Sri Lanka's Cinnamon Colombo hotels see competition

COLOMBO (EconomyNext) - Sri Lanka's Cinnamon branded city hotels of the John Keells Holdings group has seen rise in competition triggering a fall in room revenue, Chairman Susanthe Ratnayake has said. Cinnamon Grand Hotel had still maintained an occupancy rate of 75 percent in 2014, down slightly from 76 percent last year. Ratnayake said the average occupancy of Colombo city five-star hotels was only 55 percent. Room revenue had dropped 4 percent but food and beverage revenue had grown 122 million rupees allowing overall revenue to grow 1 percent to 4.93 billion rupees. Profits had dropped 11 percent to 1.54 billion rupees. The 501-room Cinnamon Grand had a market share of 32 percent in 2014, only slightly down from a share of 33 percent reported a year earlier.
